CLIENT:

Openbook Howden Design & Print – www.openbookhowden.com.au

BRIEF:

The aim for this project was to show in action the new iPad App that Openbook Howden were developing for the Lutheran Church of Australia. They wanted people to clearly see how to navigate and experience a digital version of the already hugely popular Lutheran Church magazine. Apps and Electronic Publications are the next step for Magazine Publishers and this promo clip shows the potential of broadening the readership of any magazine by going global and the capabilities of Openbook Howden Design and Print and helping to make this happen.

PROCESS:

I chose to shoot this video as a ‘point-of-view’ presentation to allow for viewers who may not be familiar with how tablets operate, let alone a digital version of their favourite magazine. Showing a time compressed tour of the app, along with simple text summaries, a great music track and the right voice ensured this video made the audience feel this was something ‘they’ could do.

OUTCOME:

The video has been really well received and has also helped the Lutheran Church of Australia consider other ways to revolutionise the way they communicate across the board. From this video I now also produce a monthly video as an ongoing feature of each edition of the digital magazine and Openbook Howden continue to develop innovative ways to help their clients break new ground.

A NOTE FROM MY CLIENT:

Thanks Simon. We are so happy with the result of this video. Your advice and guidance throughout the process were above and beyond our brief and expectations. It wouldn’t have been the same without you involved in the project. So glad also that you are continuing to work with the editors of this publication to produce their video take-out for each month’s edition. Thanks again, Sarah Leo & Greg Hassold.
